Who am I? Boy, is that a loaded question. First, I am a daughter. A friend. A CrossFit athlete and coach. Social media superstar.
My story is crazy, full of ups and downs… and I wouldn’t change a thing.
2006: Graduate high school and head to the University of Colorado. Become an Alpha Phi. Life is good.
October 2007: I was had to deal with an unfortunate incident with a fellow student who I thought wanted to study…I was wrong (feel free to ask, I’ll tell you the details). I left the University of Colorado, heart broken that my dreams of attending a top university, being involved in Division I sports were down the drain.
Fall 2008: New school year, new me. I head off to Chico State University where I begin to mold my leadership skills. I was the Director of Chapter Events and Director of Marketing for Alpha Phi, I was on the competitive advertising team on campus, and was initiated into two honor societies (Beta Gamma Sigma & Lambda Pi Eta). It’s wasn’t a Division I school but my professors were extraordinary. I learned more in those two years than I did in my first two years in Colorado.
May 2010: I graduate with honors with a Bachelors in Communication Studies & Public Affairs and a minor in Marketing. Now what? An internship of course! I entered my first “real world” job at MarketWatch downtown San Francisco. I ran the social media sites for the organization, set up journalist with accounts and taught them best practices. More importantly, I learned the corporate world isn’t for me and I love CrossFit WAY TOO MUCH.
By the summer of 2011, I realized I was growing stagnant and needed a drastic change. So like every 22 year old, I enrolled in graduate school at Boston University (isn’t that what every 22 year old does…?).
Fall 2011: I ran my first international marketing campaign for the non profit organization Teens Turning Green. We had over 3,000 students participate in the campaign from around the world. We partnered with large organizations such as Whole Foods and Seventh Generation.
January 2012: I moved out on my own to Salt Lake City and began my journey to the CrossFit Games. I started running social media for the Southwest Region (you can read about my experience here). From there, I was hoisted onto the largest platform in the CrossFit community… the CrossFit Games media staff. Someday, when I have time, I’ll write a recap post about my time at the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games… maybe when I graduate? Lifes hectic enough for me! So now I am living Austin, TX, living the life. I have the best job(s) in the world. Being a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in Austin, TX has granted me the opportunity to make real changes in people’s lives. I love doing CrossFit in Austin. People may called it the Live Music Capital of the World… but it’s really is the fitness capital of the world!
